Covered in Flowers

Hey there!
Gosh I have so many things to catch you up on. The stories are going to arrive out of order, just because they will come as inspiration leads me.
This is what I wore to Fleur's Birthday party. (Don't worry, I added a safety pin at the bust before leaving the house!!)
I've been very happy with this dress, so you will see it again when I tell you all about that lovely vintage wedding I went to.
This time I teamed it with these home decorated shoes from here. I was thrilled that the daisies stayed on, testament to my hot melt glue gun skills...but gosh the straps cut my ankles. So much so we had to get a taxi for the last 10 min walk home and I still have scars.
The cardy was one knitted for me by Swan Textile Services. You can find them at the War and Peace show which is coming up in July.
I had to do some fix ups on the dress. The pockets were all stretched and it was missing a belt, meaning a bit of trickery was required to sneak enough fabric to make a replacement. I can show you pics if you are interested?

  5. I still absolutely love that dress! It is gorgeous and you look lovely in it. And, I'm sorry that sticking with me to my tube station and having to back track meant your feet and ankles suffered. :( I hope they are feeling better!

    1. Ohh no Molly - it wasn't that at all. Tracking back just meant we hopped on the next train - no walking involved there really. It was the walk home. Hubby was happy because it meant we passed the kebab shop!

  8. Such a fantastic, cheerful outfit, Shona! I'm building up a rainbow of cardis and presently lack a yellow one still. I'd love to find one like the pretty baby chick hued one you're sporting here some day.

  11. I love that dress, definitely worth the little fixes you had to do! So pretty with the heels, even though ugh, painful footwear is the worst. My friend would call those 'sitting down shoes'. lol!

  14. Lovely, and yes, be very interested to see how you went about the belt. I'm always fiddling about with things myself, should something need repair or to be kept from the last rights a little longer! so it interests me how other people go about it. I absolutely have to check out the place you got the cardigan, too.
Sympathies over the shoes, I have had huge problems all my life trying to find shoes that will not hurt like hell...recently discovered Hotter, they have had some vintagey styles from time to time.....hence spending a lot of time barefoot at home!

  16. Gotta love a woman who likes to pimp up her shoes;)))))). They look so amazing that I can't imagine them without the daisies! You poor thing with the darn ankle straps ... can you make more buckle holes so we get to see them again? The frock is gorgeous and any fix-ups are easily disguised by that superb floral fabric:) Love your blog and I'm following you - thank you so much for your very kind comment:) xoxo
